With some disciplines, you can certainly improve your productivity and stay focused to keep all things on track.
Check out these 7 ways to stay focused, energetic and productive all the time.
1) Schedule a Day
Scheduling a day is a great work ethic to stay focused. It allows you to work seamlessly without wasting time thinking about what to do next during work hours.
If possible keep your plan of action ready before a day so that you can put complete focus on the execution part most effectively.
2) Stop Multitasking
People often think multitasking is a great way to finish maximum work at a time. But according to researchers it reduces productivity and degrades the work quality.
Our brain is designed to have a single thought at a time (try it NOW!!). To move on to second thought we need to drop the current thought.
While working on one task if we continuously think about finishing other tasks, somehow we lose focus and could not complete the current task on time or miss some important details related to the task.
That’s how multitasking badly hampers productivity and gets us off track.
3) Turn Off Notifications
The moment we heard the beep of a cellphone notification or the email/msg gets displayed on a computer screen; instantly our focus gets shifted.
Ultimately we can’t resist ourselves to dive into the ocean of multiple thoughts and getting distracted. This state disrupts our thoughts and makes it difficult to get back on track.
Some people also have the habit to check emails continuously (this may happen due to workplace anxiety as well).
To avoid this, turn off your cellphone notification and email notifications while working on important tasks. This will immediately cut off you from unnecessary distractions and help you concentrate.
At first, try this only for an hour. You will notice; that one hour has become the most productive time frame for you compared to the rest of the day.
4) Set Realistic Goals
One more reason to lose focus is to feel like giving up. Most of the time this happens because we set unrealistic targets for ourselves.
To accomplish big things we have to set bigger targets but to achieve that we need to work gradually (one step at a time).
Try to set small realistic measurable targets.
Divide your big tasks into small tasks and try to finish them in a decided time frame. Once you finish any small task; just don’t forget to celebrate.
Always celebrate your smaller wins; this will motivate you to work even harder. Make this a ritual.
5) Create an Ideal Work Environment
To create a favorable workstation, first, you need to declutter your desk. Get rid of things that seem distracting. Try to keep it clean and organized.
Put some great thoughts on the wall or you can just have great wallpaper on your computer screen to keep you motivated during hard times as well.
Only keep meaningful things on your desk; things that can constantly remind you of your goals and help you manifest them.
6) Get Enough Sleep
Now the most important thing – getting proper sleep at night.
Lack of sleep affects both physical and mental health. It causes many issues such as fatigue, stress, reduced concentration, tiredness, insomnia, etc.
No matter how dedicated or passionate you are; you won’t be able to concentrate if you do not take proper rest.
Our brain needs rewiring to be able to think consciously or to be an immediate responder and this happens when we take enough sleep.
Many people take excessive caffeine or other substances to stay awake in order to improve their productivity. It may seem worth giving a shot for a short period but causes deep issues in a long run such as sleep deprivation.
Make sure to take enough sleep at night to ensure your next day’s win.
7) Take Out Time for Breaks
Do not force your mind or body to do things on harsh terms. It’s important to take breaks and relax for a moment.
Continuous work creates a loop that prevents us from thinking differently.
To be more creative at work it’s important to take healthy breaks. It will not only increase your productivity but also keep you energized.
